Sadee + Joey: Same Day Edit Wedding Film

We're so excited to show you Sadee and Joey's Same Day Edit wedding film - it truly was a labor of love! These two didn't want full coverage of their wedding day, just the short video highlighting their ceremony and morning of the big day. It was a wonderful challenge, filming all the most important details and editing on-site to create something special to show at their reception - a big thanks to my editor Jeremiah for some early planning and amazing work!

Same Day Edit films are something we love to offer - it's a wonderful capsule of the wedding morning that offers a peek at the intimate moments with the bride and groom the guests don't usually witness. The excitement of getting ready for the big day, all the heightened emotions during a "first look", and the best moments of the ceremony are woven together to create a personal snapshot of the day just hours after it's happened!

See Sadee and Joey's Same Day Edit video below, and for a little extra fun we've included a video of their reactions to their video at the reception!

Kathryn and Alan | Same Day Edit | Casa Real, California

One of my favorite things to do at a wedding is to create a beautiful Same Day Film. There is nothing better than to share those special moments with family and friends within hours of it happening. Watching the film is like going to a show and having access to the backstage. Family and friends are no longer just spectators, they are also actors within the film.   I was ecstatic when Kathryn and Alan asked me to create a Same Day Film to capture their special day and love for each other that has spanned over the past 16 years. This fun-loving couple wrote their own vows about friendship and love; a great beginning for a wonderful storyline. Thank you Kathryn and Alan for making us part of your wedding day.

Merci et bonne journée!

Same Day Edit | Ashley & Noah | The Lodge at Sonoma. Sonoma, California

The challenge to create a same day edit is to find the initial spark to create the storyline and tell the story as it naturally unfolds throughout the day.
When Ashley and Noah told me they were reading their own vows, I knew immediately that they would be my anchor point throughout the film. For this couple from Hawaii, who enjoy good food and wine, the Lodge at Sonoma was the perfect setting for their destination wedding.  They got ready in charming cottages and held their outdoor ceremony on the lawn surrounded by exotic flowers. It was the perfect setting to gather their family and friends to proclaim their love.
Some of my favorite elements were the personalized hangers for Ashley's bridesmaids, as well as for both mothers. It was really eye-catching to film multiple custom made hangers rather than just one for the bride.

While the boys were dealing with their Handkerchiefs, the girls were busy toasting the soon-to-be-happy couple with their personalized  shot glasses.

The ink trees and the card placements were definitely another originality, that made the wedding unique and personal.

Their photo session at Train Town right across the Renaissance Hotel, was just plain fun and unexpected. We had great light, awesome rides, and beautiful eye candy. What else can you ask for more?

Jamie Chang of Mango Muse Events, their coordinator made sure everything went smoothly. Kevin with Denon and Doyle  had the crowed going.  Mauricio from Chrisman Studio was really a pleasure to work with. The guy is so talented. You can just tell from his demeanor and behavior throughout the day that they will have amazing pictures. I can't wait to see them myself. I hope we will get to work alongside soon.
Thank you to my team for helping throughout the day. I hope you will enjoy their film.

Alfa and Tony - Same Day Edit - Redwood City, CA

Saturday I had the honor of filming Alfa and Tony's wedding. It was a really great wedding with loving family and friends sharing their happiness. I met Alfa and Tony back in January at the Pacific Athletic Club open house, and right off the bat we connected. We spent quite a time chatting on that day, so when they reached out to me to film their wedding I was ecstatic.
To top it off they decided to hire my good friend and amazing make up artist Rona Basa. It's always great to work with great professionals, and it's even better when you work with friends.

One excited feature of their package was that they decided to do a same day edit. Now the jitters starting to kick in because I love doing Same Day Edit, but I have not done one in a while and it was my first with DSLR. So it was a new workflow for me but thanks to my good friend and wedding filmmaker extraordinaire Loyd Calomay, I felt reassured I could pull it off with ease and style.
I knew what song I was going to use and for the past week, and I was "storyboarding" it in my head. Even though the ceremony at First United Palo Alto Methodist Church was a late start , and I had no time to start the editing before the ceremony due to a busy prep time, I was very confident I would meet my deadline of 10:30pm to share the SDE with them. And I did 10:15pm I was ready to go.
I would like to give a special shutout to Dennive and Jeffrey of Maliksi photography, who captured the day beautifully, and Cary Lee of Petals by CaryThank you again Alfa and Tony for having me for your wedding. It was truly an honor to work with you. Enjoy the honeymoon

Yumi and Patrick: Same Day Edit July 25th, 2009 Santa Clara mission, Santa Clara

Mission Santa Clara is one of my favorite church around the Bay Area. The architecture is amazing and the atmosphere is serene for lack of better word. So when Yumi and Patrick told me that's where they would held their ceremony I was thrilled. The ceremony was wonderful and touching, and the reception at the Historic DelMonte Building, was fun and friendly. Big shutout to Phillip Mobley from PLM Productions, who rock s the party with some great tunes, as well as great energy.

Charles Le was triggering all day long, and it was a pleasure working with him.

Thank Yumi and Patrick for giving me the opportunity of being your wedding filmmaker.

Without further Ado here is the same day edit

Cheers

Same day Edit: Loi & Virginia, Edgewood resort Lake Tahoe

Virginia and Loi have a very cool story. It's a bit like east meets west as Virginia lives and New Jersey and Loi in Alameda. And on Friday May 29, 2009, they decided to considerably reduced their long distance relationship by tiying the knot at lake Tahoe, where they first met. This gathering of friends and family had all the ingredients for a wonderful wedding, that I was fortunate to be part of.

Ricky Wong was taking beautiful pictures. it was such a pleasure to work with him, and capture Loi and Virginia beautiful wedding.

Lindsay & Ramil Same Day Edit. Ste. Anne San Francisco

Same day edits are always a race against time, but hey are so fulfilling and challenging. they really force me to up my game. So when Lindsay and Ramil asked me to do their same day edit I was thrilled. They have been preparing their wedding for quite a while, and had many events in store. From a lavish bridal prep at the Hotel, to a full mass ceremony, and a jam packed reception, there were little time to mess up with. So I decided to focus my piece on their bride prep and ceremony. Big shutout to Jordan and Dennis for helping me out with the shooting.

Rowena and Ben. St. Joseph Basilica, Alameda, California

Rowena and Ben were married Saturday september 6, 2008 at Saint Joseph Basilica in Alameda. Everything was picture perfect after month and month of planning. The beautiful ceremony was followed by a great reception at Marriott Oakland. They too had a same day edit, but in their case I decided to go another route than Victoria and Ming (see below). I hope you will enjoy it, and as always your comment are more than welcome. Thank you to Van Hsieh from ocean blue videography for helping me to get some really amazing footage. And a special shut out to Kurty from Kurty Photography who not only referred me to Rowena and Ben, but also has been a mentor to me for several years. Thank you Kurty for all the good advice you have been given me.

Victoria & Ming. Casa La Vista treasure Island, California

See it in HD here

Ming and Victoria is an awesome couple, and I had the chance to be part of their wedding on Friday. They tied the knot on treasure island at the chapel, followed by a great reception at Casa la vista. They asked me to put together a same day edit which I was so glad to do. i wanted something different and upbeat so i decided to go rock for them, and the first song popping in my head was Friday i'm in love. So here is their Same Day Edit. On a special note I just wanted to say how cool it was to see my friend John Chen from living photography. As always comments and critics are more than welcome.

Thank you and have a great day

Rachell and Shaun. Villagio Inn, St. Helena, California

Rachell, and Shaun got married in Beautiful Yountville, on Saturday July 12, 2008. This great couple had invited their friends and family to a wonderful wedding celebration at Groezinger Estate. The place was beautiful and with so many details to capture, from Rachell and Shaun's first time seeing each other, to their cake cutting in the beautiful Barrel Room, there was not a single moment of boredom. Thanks to Dennis and Arthur for helping me capturing great footages. And a special thank you to Kurty and Iris from Kurty photography for working with me again. Here is a taste of their wedding with this highlight teaser. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed shooting it and editing it.
